This year we have seen a big change in the way we are all living. Many of us thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic and wild regulations that our governments are putting on us are being forced to work from home. Many people are now living like slaves under masters who have unchecked power. It is a rather wild thing and the worst part is that it is hurting our environment as well. We are now being forced to stay inside and with that people are changing the way we do business and shop. Online retailers are thriving because everyone is now shopping online. It has been a huge shift in the way we do business and work. Instead of simply heading to the store for an item, we now have to get all of our items shipped to us. That leaves us with tons of packages and bags and plastic stuffing all around our homes now. So I want to go over some ways to help get those items recycles safely and without spending too much time doing it.
One thing I found to be a pain in the butt this year was the fact that I am not allowed to go recycle legally. It is not an important task according to our governor who is now a 100% dictator in our state. He has made it illegal to do so and I am only allowed to recycle one trashcan a week with my local city. That means that all of my weekly shopping and all of the cardboard boxes have to be put into one single trashcan. It is simply not possible.

I used to get a few packages a week and I would just toss them in my can along with a bag of recycling. That was always enough to work fine through the week. I didn't need too much space, but since now all my shopping has changed, so has my amount of packages coming in. It hurts to see so many and knowing that they are piling up in my garage. I finally hit the wall last week and decided to find the best way to do it. I had to break them all down and get them into the can the most efficient way possible.
The answer at first was simply to tear them apart. I was angry and mad at all the extra packages and I decided to tear the cardboard boxes apart. It was not long until I got cut and my hands grew tired. This was not a way that would work in teh long run. So I stopped what I was doing and went to pick up some scissors. After getting those I went to cut the boxes into the shape of the inside of the trashcan. It went well for a box or two then hot spots started to appear on my hands. They got red in spots and I almost got blisters there. I stopped for a few days to heal.
Finally, I decided to go and grab a knife and break them down. I used my fishing fixed blade mora knife and it worked super well. I took my time and always cut away from my body. I even wore gloves this time and I was able to get through a ton of packages rather quickly.
